State Voting Laws Roundup

The State Voting Laws Roundup is a partnership with the Brennan Center for Justice that tracks state voting and election interference legislation around the country.

Since 2025, the Brennan Center for Justice has partnered with the Democracy Policy Lab on the State Voting Laws Roundup. The Brennan Center began the State Voting Laws Roundup in 2011, tracking state voting legislation around the country and publishing several roundups each year of the legislation as it moves through state legislatures. The project tracks legislation which expands or restricts voting access by making it easier or harder for eligible Americans to register, stay on the voter rolls, or vote compared to existing state law. Since 2022 the project has also tracked election interference legislation which either threatens the people and processes that make elections work or increases opportunities for partisan interference in election results or administration.

Galen Sheely serves as the Democracy Policy Lab’s research director for this project.
